Watch: Kick-Ass Trailer for RZA’s Kung-Fu Flick ‘The Man with the Iron Fists’

Universal has debuted the first red-band trailer for RZA’s kung fu flick The Man with the Iron Fists and it looks spectacularly badass. RZA directs and stars alongside an eclectic cast featuring Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, and Cung Le.

The film is set in feudal China and centers on a small village’s blacksmith (RZA) who is forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction. When the clans’ brewing war boils over, the stranger channels an ancient energy to transform himself into a human weapon. As he fights alongside iconic heroes and against soulless villains, one man must harness this power to become savior of his adopted people.

As you would expect from a movie produced by Quentin Tarantino, this looks totally crazy and over-the-top and in the mold of a spaghetti western. Watch the bloody red band trailer below or head over to IGN for HD. No release date yet but expect to see a limited run by the end of the year.

Quentin Tarantino presents The Man With the Iron Fists, an action-adventure inspired by kung-fu classics as interpreted by his longtime collaborators RZA and Eli Roth. Making his debut as a big-screen director and leading man, RZA—alongside a stellar international cast led by Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu—tells the epic story of warriors, assassins and a lone outsider hero in nineteenth-century China who must unite to destroy the clan traitor who would destroy them all.

Since his arrival in China’s Jungle Village, the town’s blacksmith (RZA) has been forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction. When the clans’ brewing war boils over, the stranger channels an ancient energy to transform himself into a human weapon. As he fights alongside iconic heroes and against soulless villains, one man must harness this power to become savior of his adopted people.

Blending astonishing martial-arts sequences from some of the masters of this world with the signature vision he brings as the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan and as one of hip-hop’s most dominant figures of the past two decades, RZA embarks upon his most ambitious, stylized and thrilling project to date.

Interesting how little there is of RZA in the trailer, even though he’s kind of the main dude here. I wonder if they’re just hiding him in marketing to show off all the other craziness on display here. Regardless– wow. Looks totally nuts. I hope it winds up being so, in all the right ways.

WOW this looks bat-shit awesome! I was puzzled when I heard of Russell Crowe’s involvement but that could make him cool again.

Wow, how have I never heard of this?!? This looks insane!

Glad I watched that! Looks spectacularly silly!
