Amy Adams & Jeremy Renner to Star in David. O Russell’s ‘American Bullshit’

Yesterday, we got word that Christian Bale had dropped out of director David O. Russell’s next project, American Bullshit with Jeremy Renner in talks to replace him. Now, Variety reports that Amy Adams will reunite with her The Fighter director in the movie which will center on the 1970s FBI sting operation known as Abscam that brought down a number of U.S. politicians on corruption charges.

Renner would take on the role of FBI agent Jimmy Boyle while Bradley Cooper is in negotiations to play Mel Weinberg, the con artist in charge of the operation. Meanwhile, Adams would play Weinberg’s mistress and partner-in-crime.

Adams won an Academy Award for Best Actress with O Russell directing her in The Fighter. She will next be seen later this year in The Master and Trouble with the Curve. Renner will star in The Bourne Legacy next month. Production for the now-untitled film is set to begin in February
