Jessica Chastain & Joel Edgerton are Hunting Down Bin Laden in First Official Pics from ‘Zero Dark Thirty’
The first three official pictures from Kathryn Bigelow‘s Bin Laden movie Zero Dark Thirty have been released. You can take a look at them below but many of you will have glimpsed them before in a past issue of Entertainment Weekly.
Thankfully, we also have a new picture of Jessica Chastain who apparently is playing some type of CIA investigator as she is standing inside a military outpost. With the movie only four months away from its December 19 release, there is still few details as to how the film will play out or what characters the star-studded cast will depict.
Kyle Chandler, Joel Edgerton, Nash Edgerton, Chris Pratt, Mark Strong, and Frank Grill also star. Now for goodness’ sake, let’s hope Bigelow gives a more substantial priority to military realism than she did in The Hurt Locker.
At any rate, check out the pics below and on the right. Let us know what you think!

Great cast this one. Hopefully I like it more than The Hurt Locker.
Same here!
If there’s one thing that this doesn’t really need, it’s a high profile cast. Or, more accurately, the movie doesn’t need to have attention paid to the high profile members of its cast. I have a feeling Chastain is going to be a bystander throughout the entire movie, but I suspect she’ll be featured in a lot of the film’s promotional stuff regardless.
Much as I loved The Hurt Locker, I find my interest in this waning. Bigelow’s great, but I really think this is a movie that could wind up being dwarfed by competing releases.
It’s hard to tell since we have barely seen any footage from the movie. But most certainly, there a lot of intriguing movies coming at the end of the year which could push this into rental territory for me.
Hi, Castor and company:
A ‘Successful’ Special Operation is one that NEVER makes the papers!
Though I’ve been a fan of Ms. Bigelow since ‘Near Dark’. I’ve a feeling that this film. Regardless of its cast, will have 1/10th the drawing power and return of ‘The Hurt Locker’.
That’s a bold prediction, Jack! Given all the media attention given to the operation, I would think more people will show up to see Zero Dark Thirty than The Hurt Locker. But the latter did benefit from audiences gaining interest after its Best Picture Oscar.
Hi, Castor:
Call it a ‘Gut Feeling’.
Advertising or not. I believe that ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ will do well on the East Coast, north of Virginia. And all along the West coast, but will do poorly across middle America.
It seems like an great combination of The Debt and The Hurt Locker. Hope it won’t disappoint-but Bigelow rarely does
Really excited for this flick. Chastain looks perfectly badass. Thanks for posting this!
