Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire & Tom Hardy Unite for Warner Brothers Anti-Poaching Film
Apparently, one cause that Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Tom Hardy feel strongly about is animal poaching. THR reports that the trio of Hollywood stars are looking to produce an untitled drama for Warner Bros. which would center on animal trafficking.
While there is no word yet whether DiCaprio, Maguire and/or Hardy will also star in the film, the movie will reportedly will be structured like Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic with multiple storylines that would illustrate the tragic consequences of poaching. The film’s locations would span from Africa to the fashion runways in Paris.
The studio is now looking to get a screenwriter on board but it seems that Hardy was crucial in getting the project to move ahead as he was “inspired by friends who are former Special Forces operatives and went on to become anti-poacher fighters in South Africa and other nations.”
This is certainly an admirable enterprise as animal poaching is a truly cruel and heinous practice that is endangering many rare species. Let’s hope the combined weight of these stars will be enough to get this made.
What do you think?
