Must Watch: First Trailer for ‘Killing Them Softly’ Starring Brad Pitt

The Weinstein Company has debuted the first trailer for mob drama Killing Them Softly and it looks absolutely terrific. Andrew Dominik follow-up effort to the The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford stars Brad Pitt as a mob enforcer who is hired to hunt down three low-level criminals who robbed a mob-protected poker game.

If you’ve seen any of Dominik’s previous work, you will know to expect more dialogue and less gunplay and it’s certainly apparent in the preview. Featuring some caustic dark humor to the tune of Johnny Cash’s ”When The Man Comes Around,” the movie is said to have stunned its audience at the Cannes Film Festival with a killer ending and a pervasive underlying message about the state of our dysfunctional society.

Watch the trailer below (via The Huffington Post) and let us know what you think! Killing Them Softly opens on October 19th.

Yup, can’t wait to see this flick. It has that True Romance mix with Fargo feel to it. I hope Dominik’s career takes off in a big way after this film, he’s one of the best new directors right now.

  2. I just saw it 20 minutes ago. Looks like it’ll be really good.

  3. I loved Jesse James, and this looks cool so i’m excited. With that said, i didn’t see much of the message about dysfunctional society, with the possible exception of Pitts quote near the end(about everyone being on there own)

Love the trailer, Pitt looks absolutely awesome here. Can’t wait for the movie, if it will be half as good as Jesse James it will definetly be in my top 10 of the year.

  5. I’m in. I can’t wait.

Looks as if it has the potential to be this year’s cool low level crime flick, a la Drive last year. I’d be down for that. :D
