Chris Evans & Michelle Monaghan to Star in Offbeat Romantic Comedy ‘A Many Splintered Thing’
Here is a romantic comedy off-the-beaten path “in the vein of Amelie and (500) Days of Summer“, according to Deadline. A Many Splintered Thing revolves around a disillusioned young man who happens to fall for a beautiful woman at a charity dinner while pretending to be a philanthropist. Naturally, she is already engaged and our likable protagonist must feign a platonic relationship in order to keep seeing her as he tries to win her heart.
With production set to begin next month, director Justin Reardon has chosen Chris Evans (a.k.a. Captain America) and Michelle Monaghan (Source Code) to co-star in the film. While the premise doesn’t sound as groundbreaking as the producers seem to think it is, I can stand behind Evans and the forever overlooked Monaghan as the romantic duo. The Black List script from Chris Shafer and Paul Vicknair seem promising enough that it was among the finalists for the 2011 Nicholl Fellowship.
Evans will next be seen in the crime drama The Iceman, alongside Michael Shannon. He will also return in Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier but personally, his most intriguing upcoming project is the sci-fi Snowpiercer, a movie that centers on a group of travelers trapped on a train in a world covered in snow and ice. Meanwhile, Monaghan will next be seen in Still of the Night alongside Susan Sarandon and The Coup with Owen Wilson.
What do you think?

I like Evans, so hpefully this will be better than most of the rom-coms we’ve been getting
You would think it wouldn’t be too hard but it seems like mission impossible for Hollywood.
I like both of ‘em, and the premise sound all right. Michelle is a pretty under-appreciated actress IMO, she’s been good in everything I’ve seen her in. She’s also not afraid to choose bold projects that showcase her talent.
Like… Like Machine Gun Preacher? lol
Yes, exactly like Machine Gun Preacher… an underrated film just like all the talents involved.
