It’s All Happening: “Before Midnight” Done Shooting
Well played, Ethan Hawke, master of subterfuge. Last week, in the wake of reports that Mr. Hawke, Julie Delpy and Richard Linklater had stealthly stormed Greece to shoot the third film in their thus far masterful Before Sunrise/Before Sunset series, wily ol’ Ethan said: “We’re here writing a third installment to Before Sunrise. If it works out, we’ll film it, and if it doesn’t, we won’t. It’s not really worth talking about. I’m just here developing.”
Ah, but just like The Master wasn’t necessarily about scientology or L. Ron Hubbard UNTIL IT WAS!, Ethan Hawke was just in Greece developing UNTIL HE WASN’T!
Deadline reports that filming on Before Midnight, the third installment to Before Sunrise/Before Sunset, wrapped shooting just last night in Messina, Greece in time for it to seek distribution on the trading floor of the Toronto International Film Festival. Hawke and Delpy together released this statement: βItβs great to be back together again, this time in beautiful Greece to revisit the lives of Celine and Jesse nine years after Jesse was about to miss his flight.β
At last. Rejoice, Tweed Jackets. Rejoice. (Note: Tweed Jackets is my term for passionate Jesse/Celine fans. Tweed Jackets are to Before Sunrise what Browncoats are to Firefly.)

What do we think, kids? Does the guy on the left look like someone who might have left his wife for the girl on the right?

You mean: “It’s already happened”
If you want to get technical…
I was merely quoting Penny Lane. Because I think we ALL know Penny Lane grew up to be a Tweed Jacket.
Top 5 film to see for 2013!!!!
I can easily see myself getting behind this one!
YAAAAAYYYY! *does a little dance* I’m so happy this is finally happening. If this is at least as good as Before Sunrise, we have a new Best Trilogy Everrrrrr in our hands
Outstanding to hear. Honestly, I’m not sure that I ever really wanted a third film in this series, but now that we’re getting one, I’m thrilled. Hope it lives up to the incredible artistry of Before Sunset and caps off Celine and Jesse’s story together the right way.
Cool! I better make sure I see Before Sunset um, before seeing this Midnight one
You gotta see it! Personally I prefer it to Sunrise…
So excited to hear this! Great timing, too, as I just watched the other two “Before..” films for the first time last week. I’m generally not a big fan of romance films, but those were near perfect. Can’t wait to see what has happened with these guys in the last nine years…
