Watch: First Trailer for ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’ with Jeremy Renner & Gemma Arterton
Paramount Pictures has debuted the first trailer for Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton play the titular characters, who fifteen years after their gingerbread house incident, have turned into ruthless witch hunters.
As you recall, the movie was delayed and pushed back to a January 11, 2013 release. And watching the trailer, it’s easy to see why: It’s look like a mediocre B-movie at best. The special effects look cheap, the dialogue sounds ridiculously corny and overall, it just looks like a direct-to-video horror flick.
Check it out for yourself below or click over to Apple for HD. Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters opens in 3D on January 11, 2013 and also stars Famke Janssen and Peter Stormare.
Catching up with Hansel (Renner) and Gretel (Arterton) 15 years after the traumatic incident involving a gingerbread house, the siblings have evolved into vengeful bounty hunters dedicated to exterminating witches. Over the years, the siblings became expert hunters, famous for their proficiency at tracking and taking down their prey. Although still recovering from their ordeal, their work is relatively easy as for an unknown reason harmful spells and curses do not work well against them.
The Mayor of Augsburg recruits them to rid the town and nearby forests of an evil sorceress (Janssen) who is planning to sacrifice many local children at the witches’ gathering during the upcoming ‘Blood Moon’ night in two days time. To make things worse, the duo also has to deal with the brutal Sheriff Berringer (Stormare) who has taken power in Augsburg and conducts a very indiscriminate witch-hunt of his own.

Looks like fun. I like the humor it seems to have.
SO BAD IT’S FUN?!
Hahaha it’s so bad it’s funny.
Yea I doubt it will even have that redeeming factor.
hmmm I was hoping this might be more Evil Dead than Van Helsing. Not convinced.
This…this looks terrible. Does no one remember Van Helsing? Does no one remember how horrid and wretched that film was? This looks like a step down from Van Helsing, which is admittedly an impressive feat on its own merits but not anything that deserves to be celebrated. I’m breaking my “pre-judging” rule on this, because I don’t for one second think this will have a single redeeming quality based on that trailer alone.
Yea this makes Van Helsing look like Incendies lol
I’m sure it’ll sweep the Razzies next year, because that’s a bizarre accomplishment in and of itself.
This looks ridiculous
Oh that poor horse!!
Maybe Peter Stormare will be the saving grace in this… what am I talking about? No he wont!
The best thing about the trailer, NIN’s “The Wretched”.
haha. I love that dead horse gif, Castor. LOL.
Yeah, let’s just say that I hope Jeremy Renner doesn’t turn into Nic Cage with his multiple role choices.
