New Look at ‘Iron Man 3′; Nick Fury Won’t Appear in the Movie

Last month’s release of the first full trailer for Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 sparked a lot of speculation that Marvel is veering the franchise into much darker territory. Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige tried to reassure fans, recently saying “It’s not a serious movie, but we seriously dig into exploring more of Tony.”

But here are four new pictures from the movie and if the furrowed brows and angst-filled looks are anything to go by, there will be a lot of Tony Stark soul-searching.

Additionally, Samuel L. Jackson just revealed that he will not appear in Iron Man 3. “I think my next time as Nick Fury is in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier.’ Because I’m not in ‘Iron Man 3.’ None of the Avengers are in ‘Iron Man 3.’ It’s a standalone ‘Iron Man’ movie.”

Take a look below, including the first sight of Rebecca Hall (via Marvel). Iron Man 3 opens May 3, 2013.

In a way I’m kind of relieved; I always feel like I’m missing something with the way these movies tie into each other and reference comic mythology. At the same time I don’t know if the move makes a ton of sense for the movie brand, but c’est la vie.
