Hugh Jackman Talks ‘Wolverine’ Settings and Cameo

wolverine-movie-posterWhile Hugh Jackman is currently getting positive buzz for his work as Jean Valjean in Tom Hooper’s musical adaptation of Les Miserables, he is also looking to get Wolverine back in the good grace of X-Men fans. In collaboration with director James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma), Jackman is set to bring another standalone film for the character after the utterly forgettable X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Speaking with Parade, Jackman revealed a couple tasty details about the film:

You want to get me into trouble, don’t you? [laughs] Okay, the movie takes place after X-Men: The Last Stand. My character is at his lowest. He is supposed to be able to heal himself, but he may encounter someone who has worked out a way to really hurt him. And there is a cameo from one of the past X-Men in it.

Since the movie would take place after X-Men: The Last Stand and the character is at his “lowest” point, it wouldn’t surprising to see Famke Janssen as Jean Grey appear in some kind of flashback. What do you think?

The Wolverine opens July 26, 2013.

  1. This needs to be better than X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I love Hugh Jackman and that character but man, I fucking loathed that film.

I don’t think there is an actor in Hollywood, who has given so much to one character as Jackman has with Wolverine. Through the good and the bad, he has stuck it out for quite a long time. And yes, Les Mis has given me a whole new appreciation for the actor. I will be a lot more interested in his future work from here on out, until he proves to me otherwise.

Ooh. Cameo, huh? That’s pretty interesting… Nice!

This movie had gotten lost in the shuffle on me, I had totally forgotten it was in the works. Until that sketch poster grabbed my attention in a BIG way. LOL Awesome poster, isn’t it? :D
