Must-Watch: First Trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’

PACIFIC RIM

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for director Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming film, Pacific Rim. The film is set in an apocalyptic future in which humanity is fighting a hopeless war against legions of giant creatures, known as Kaiju. Despite devising powerful robots called Jaegers, humans are on the verge of defeat and must turn to two unlikely heroes.

It’s been five years since Del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth) directed a film and while this looks visually astounding, it’s tough to tell whether it will anything more than a post-apocalyptic rich man’s version of Real Steel (oh wait, you probably forgot all about that movie already). At any rate, I’m still pretty excited for this.

Watch the trailer below or click over to Apple for HD. Pacific Rim opens in 3D on July 12th, 2013 and stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba and Rinko Kikuchi.

Very excited about this. It’ll be great to see some new and different visuals from Guillermo del Toro, even though I love the worlds he’s created with Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy. This looks brills!

LOL. So I was just saying to myself, Dude, it’s been AGES since youve stopped by Anomalous Material… let’s go see what they’re up to.

And I get rewarded. See how simple that is? LOL

Yeah, awesome. Saw this (or at least an assemblage of footage very similar) at Comic-Con and it blew everyone away. It was a big winner there, for sure. I cant wait for this one!
