Watch: First Trailer for ‘The East’ Starring Brit Marling, Ellen Page & Alexander Skarsgard
Fox Searchlight has debuted the first trailer for Zal Batmanglij’s The East. Brit Marling (Another Earth) stars as a corporate undercover operative who infiltrates an anarchist cult known for executing covert attacks against major corporations. She soon finds herself unexpectedly torn between two worlds as she starts to fall in love with the group’s charismatic leader (Alexander Skarsgard), finding her life and her priorities irrevocably changed.
The thriller just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and is said to be a follow-up to Batmanglij’s Sound of My Voice in which Marling also starred. Reviews have been mostly positive so far with Variety stating that this “involving spy drama builds to a terrific level of intrigue”

Oh, I want to see this!
I like Marlings last 2 movies to varying degrees, and i like Skarsgard so i am looking forward to this
with that said, unless i have a feeling the movie will be far less actiony/conventional than the trailer is suggesting
*unless i’m wrong
Yea me too Julian, it will probably be a lot more talky and play up the romance more. Kind of like with Another Earth and the whole apocalypse angle which was really not a focus of the actual film.
Oooh this looks very interesting! Love Skarsgard and Page.
Glad this intrigued you!
I was quiet impressed by Marling in Another Earth. I’ve never seen Alexander Skarsgard in anything though. Curious to see why people seem to like him so much [shrugs]
Yea you know I loved Another Earth too
