Where Movie Lovers Come to Mingle?

Have you ever seen a movie, good or bad, and wanted to have intelligent discussions about it with fellow movie lovers? Whether it is movie reviews, current industry news or discussion about any movie topic worth discussing, Anomalous Material is the blog where movie lovers come to mingle.

Since its humble beginning in November 2009, AM has been featured on the IMDb homepage, Slashfilm, and IndieWire among others. We fully expect to continue growing at a rapid pace and become one of the world’s top online film community. Please browse around and we hope you enjoy your stay!

Meet the Staff of Anomalous Material

Castor (Editor in Chief and Head Writer)

Castor founded the blog Anomalous Material in November 2007 which officially became this present movie blog in November 2009. He studied Chemistry at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities and is currently slaving away somewhere while you are browsing this site. When Castor isn't found trolling around his own website, he dabbles in philosophical thoughts of global domination and someday revealing his true identity.

Red Georges (Staff Writer)

If there is one thing to know about Red, it's that he is horrible at filling out these "About Me" sections. Red lives in Lincoln, NE and has lived there for most of his life, although he grew up in a much, much smaller community. He is in the Army National Guard, and is anxiously awaiting an upcoming deployment in January 2011. Other than movies, Red spends a good chunk of his time with sports. While he can't say that he play as much as he used to, Red still follows most sports on a pretty close basis, and football nearly religiously.

Nick Prigge (Staff Writer)

Upon seeing Last of the Mohicans one fateful summer night many years ago I realized I yearned for movies that, above all else, moved me and, thus, set forth on an eternal cinematic crusade for, in the words of Werner Herzog, The Ecstatic Truth. Truthful hyperbole, good old fashioned melodrama and over-emotionalism are the tools of my trade. When not devouring cinema I have been known to enjoy good scotch, take Nebraska (despite having grown up in Iowa) Football way too seriously and obsess massively and endlessly over the music of Bruce Springsteen and Lady Gaga.

Max Urai (Staff Writer)

I'm a 19 year old bachelor student who is currently residing in Utrecht (the Netherlands). Besides films, my interests include listening to weird music, jogging, wearing hats and not eating meat. I have an unrelenting crush on Charlotte Gainsbourg, whom I will pursue in silence until she comes running to me. I don't have a pet, a favorite color or normal friends.

Kevyn Knox (Feature Writer)

Kevyn Knox is a film historian and critic from Harrisburg Pa. He writes about cinema on his site, The Most Beautiful Fraud in the World, as well as his review site, The Cinematheque. Kevyn also writes a regular cinema column for a local alt monthly called The Burg. Other writing credits include Film International, Plume-Noire, 366 Weird Movies, MovieZeal and of course Anomalous Material. In his so-called spare time, Kevyn, along with his lovely wife, run Midtown Cinema, the only arthouse cinema in Central Pennsylvania. This rather busy person has also sat upon the jury of the Harrisburg Film Festival every year from 2004 through 2009. At the moment, when not seeing movies (which incidentally stack up at around 500+ per year - I told you he was busy), Kevyn is at work on a book, tentatively titled "Wild Bill: The Life & Times & Films of William A. Wellman". Kevyn's favorite films are The Red Shoes, 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Good, the Bad & the Ugly. It depends on his mood as to which order they happen to go in.

Does your alias refer to Castor Troy? I happen to be a big fan of Face/Off so I find it amusing that you’re using that name :)

  2. Frank says:

I would think it’s only fair to have a nice little about me section on your blog here. A picture would be nice, but isn’t required. Dbag.

    • Castor says:

Ahah you are absolutely right. I keep pushing it back but I’ll try to put something online within the next few months.

  3. Frank says:

I don’t think I can wait that long.

  4. Ronan says:

I have to agree with Frank Castor. It’d be nice to put some more info to the blog. The mystery is kind of cool too though. Very cloak and dagger.

  5. Darren says:

Umm… I just noticed that your “privacy policy” link in the bottom of the blog… isn’t a link at all!

    DA! DA! DA!
(that’s ominous cliffhanger music, in case you were wondering)

Nice Intro about you friends. Really interesting for new readers. I suggest Castor to put your own picture to get more credibility. Cheers :)
