Movie Review: Just Like Heaven (2005)

The kind of fluffy romantic comedy that Reese Witherspoon can usually open in her sleep, Just Like Heaven is a pleasantly above average movie directed by Mark Waters (Mean Girls). An adaptation based on Marc Levy’s novel “If Only It Were True”, it relies on the supernatural premise of two people being separated by death before they even meet.

I saw the movies months ago when I was still on crutches but never got to review it so here it is after a second watch.

Great Movie: Walk the Line (2005)

Walk the Line is one of those movies, when you come out of the movie theater and tell yourself “Decent movie but great acting performances.” The movie is a Johnny Cash biopic that came out back in the fall of 2005. What makes this movie a little different is that it’s not only a timeline and description of what happened in Johnny’s life. Those are actually a sidenote in this movie, the real story is the love interest between Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) and June Carter (Reese Witherspoon).

Great Movie: Wedding Crashers (2005)

Wedding Crashers, directed by David Dobkin, is one of those movies whose simplistic premise should make for an entertaining but forgettable viewing experience, and to many people: it was. However I thought the movie was great and I loved it. Don’t get me wrong, Wedding Crashers is far from perfection (notably the last fourth of the movie) but I genuinely enjoyed it as it was so carefully crafted.
