RICHARD

Round 1

"In light of my first and second choices being nabbed, I’m going to go with Terry Gilliam. At least with Gilliam at the helm, I know my movie will be made NO MATTER WHAT. Hell, he doesn’t even need a budget. He’s the Wile E. Coyote of moviemaking. However bad it gets, he just picks himself up and carries on. Brazil, The Fisher King, Twelve Monkeys and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Go, Gilliam."

Round 2

"For my second pick, I’m going for John Cusack. One of the few successful survivors of the 80s teen generation, Cusack has enough charisma and charm to elevate even the most unpromising movie. And, as producer, I’m going to be hanging around the set a lot (yeah, I’m one of them). I want people I know I’m going to get along with."

Round 3

"Third pick for me is Jodie Foster. One of the finest actresses of her, or any, generation. Although she seems to have semi-retired these days, you always know you’re going to get a solid, faultess performance from Foster, and that she will give it her all. I’d like to see her in a more comic role for my movie, since the few times she’s done comedy (Maverick, Nim’s Island) she’s been brilliant."

Round 4

"Gravitas, gravitas and gravitas. My 4th pick has got to be the old master, Sir Ian McKellen. Let’s face it, McKellen could sit reading a menu out loud and it would be mesmerizing. Equally adept at heroic (Gandalf) and villainous (Magneto, Richard III), he can deliver even the most ridiculous lines with conviction, realism and a slight hint of amused irony.

Round 5

"Brian Cox for me next. Massively underrated Scottish actor who seems to appear in everything but never quite gets the credit he deserves. Has a remarkable range and blends into any role, be it dramatic or comedic. He was also the original Hannibal Lecter. And he’s kinda cuddly, don’t you think?"

Round 6

Richard picks Angelina Jolie. Explanation coming up later!

Round 7

"Okay, I’m going for Paul Giamatti next. Love this guy. He’s a fantastic actor. Giamatti does the perfect hangdog good guy, and the perfect snarling bad guy. Best of both worlds in one little package."

Round 8

"Rounding out my cast with some French finesse. Audrey Tautou, please. Yum."
