Martha Marcy May Marlene gives us a lot to think about, setting it apart from others this year, but the real crux here is not its dread engendering atmosphere but whether or not we accept Martha’s ambiguity between her present and her past. I certainly did.

“30 Minutes or Less” is Good Shock Comedy
Finally, a movie where Jesse Eisenberg plays a character his age, although his role in Ruben Fleischer’s 30 Minutes or Less reminds me of a combination of ones he had before. Like in Adventureland, he has a demeaning job, this time breaking the speed limit around the edges of Grand Rapids, Michigan to deliver pizzas.

A biopic about Uday Hussein may be regarded as unfilmable because it shares the psychopath’s excesses to audiences. Although I won’t be surprised if Uday’s former hired body double Latif Yahia would say that the movie about them, The Devil’s Double, is more restrained and that the real Uday is much worse.
