Movie Review: An Education (2009)

An Education, directed by Lone Scherfig, is set in 1961 England. Jenny (Carey Mulligan) is an intelligent, curious, precocious 16-yr old whose sole focus is to get into the prestigious Oxford University. She studies for her A-exam under the strict and watchful eye of her status-obsessed father (Alfred Molina). Deep inside, however, Jenny is yearning for more than this boring life she seems predestined to.

Movie Review: Brothers (2009)

Brothers, directed by Jim Sheridan, is a remake from Susanne Bier’s 2004 Danish film. I haven’t seen the original and I will never understand why Hollywood always want to remake perfectly good movies but I was positively surprised by this modest war drama thanks to some truly terrific performance from the cast.

Best Looking Gals at the Oscars

As you can see, I have never understood the fascination with really fancy and overly bold dresses. Call me boring but to me, elegant and understated is always the way to go and it’s nice to see that most of the ladies went that way on Oscar Sunday.
