First Look: Male Stripper Film ‘Magic Mike’ with Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey
If there is something that keeps Steven Soderbergh awake at night, it might just be the notion of being pigeon-holed. With a resume that is as peculiar as it is diverse, the director is bringing the dramatic comedy Magic Mike to theaters (June 29), a film supposedly based on Tatum’s real life experience as a young male stripper.

About three weeks ago, we brought you the surprising casting of funnyman Steve Carell in director Bennett Miller’s true crime drama Foxcatcher. 24 Frames reports that none other than Channing Tatum has landed the role of David Schultz, the 36-year old Olympic champion who was fatally shot by John Du Pont (Carell) in the 1996 murder case.

Directed by Kevin Macdonald, The Eagle is a film adaptation of the celebrated 1954 adventure novel The Eagle of the Ninth by Rosemary Sutcliff. While it doesn’t come close to its full potential, this historical adventure is a perfectly acceptable sword and sandals film.
