The story is based on the life of Solomon Northup, a free, married and educated black man living in 1853 New York who was lured by a job offer in Washington D.C. only to be kidnapped by two unscrupulous slave hunters and sold into slavery.

Movie Review: American Gangster (2007)
Directed by Ridley Scott, American Gangster is a treat. Blessed with an outstanding performance from its cast all the way around and a believable rich atmosphere, the movie is inspired from the real life of Harlem Kingpin Frank Lucas. RecommendedB+
