How do you know when a romantic comedy is God-awful? Well one could easily look to James L. Brook’s new film, How Do You Know, as a source of reference. Over this year of films, this is the rare film that exceeds all standards of boredom and just plain stupidity.

“No Strings Attached” is Less Than a Riveting Affair
Ivan Reitman returns to the director’s chair for this 2011 romantic comedy about a guy who falls in love with a girl who is afraid of commitment and merely is in the relationship for sexual purposes. Natalie Portman is wonderful as always, but how did her co-star fare?
“Cedar Rapids” is an Absolute Delight
Cedar Rapids is simply one of the most delightful movie experiences I have had in a long time. Director Miguel Arteta has managed to create a spellbinding and comically charged picture, without focusing on slapstick, and understanding that laughs come from the characters.
“Jackass 3″ is Still Painful, Repulsive but Tired
The iconic MTV television show is back on the big screen for a third installment. Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-O and company are older now but boys remains boys even when they are pushing 40 years of age. Review: “Piranha” is Hilariously Trashy
Scantily clad young men and women celebrating spring break on a lake until blood-thirsty piranhas appear out of nowhere to eat them alive. If this exploitation concept has you lusting for boobs and piranhas, then director Alexandre Aja’s Piranha is the movie for you.

“Love and Other Drugs” is Effectively Heartfelt
Fueled by the fine performances from Gyllenhaal and Hathaway, Edward Zwick’s Love and Other Drugs is an entertaining comedy/drama that unfortunately misses the mark with its comic intentions, but finds success and is surprisingly engaging and moving in its heartfelt dramatic moments.
In “The Science of Sleep” Emotions Are Overwhelming
Starring Gael Garcia Bernal and Charlotte Gainsbourg, Michel Gondry’s The Science of Sleep is charming and surreal, and features the most innate awkwardness of first love you are likely to witness. Read Andrew’s review of this film!
Review: McAdams Shines in Breezy, Sunny “Morning Glory”
From director Roger Michell comes an adult comedy starring Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford, and Diane Keaton, which opens domestically on November 10. Penned by Alice Brosh McKenna, Morning Glory is a fluffy yet delightfully entertaining commercial fare that portrays the love story a woman has with her career as a morning show producer.
