It seems to be kind of a “thing” lately: hiring pop musicians to compose film scores. There have always been pop songs in films, of course, but hiring a band to score an entire movie is happening more often now then ever. Last year alone two of the most memorable scores came from established pop artists, and one of them even won an Oscar for it.
