Back in April, Peter Jackson posted a wonderful video blog from the set of The Hobbit, promising that it was the first of many. Well, here he comes again with a second video blog in which we learn that the cast and crew has just completed 54 days of shooting, the first block of three which will total 254 days of production.

Three official stills from the set of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit have been released by EW, giving us our first sneak-peak at Martin Freeman in the role of Bilbo Baggins. We also get a look at Ian McKellen as Gandalf and a picture of Jackson directing Freeman.

Peter Jackson has just posted his first video blog from the set of The Hobbit on Facebook. It’s a great 10-minute peek into the pre-production work for the two-part movie which is set 60 years before Lord of the Rings and revolves around the adventures of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman).
The late Stieg Larsson created a literary phenomenon with his Millennium Trilogy. The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest, came to theaters and Americans flocked to the theaters to see it, unlike almost any foreign film that I can think of in recent memory.
While the news came in the past couple weeks that The Hobbit, the prequel to The Lord of the Rings, finally received a green-light from Warner Bros, the entire country of New Zealand has been in an uproar over whether the movies would actually be filmed in New Zealand. Fear not Kiwis and fellow Ringers, The Hobbit is a go!
