None of his contemporaries and few of his predecessors, if I may be so bold, capture the intimate, intricate details quite like Michael Mann, nor shape their stories so not even the slightest indispensable stroke is missing. Is it any wonder then that this sprawling saga of Cops and Robbers focuses on two protagonists who are obsessed with the details?

Movie Review: Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call – New Orleans (2009)
Bad Lieutenant: Port Call – New Orleans is Werner Herzog’s latest baby, a darkly funny crime thriller starring Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes, Val Kilmer and Alvin “Xzibit” Joiner. “Wait a second” you may ask, those actors have been in dozens and dozens of horrendous movies! Do not despair because Bad Lieutenant is breaking the mold and getting the best of Cage and company.
1001 Movie: Top Gun (1986)
Tom Cruise plays gung-ho Navy fighter pilot “Maverick” who, along with his NFO “Goose” (Anthony Edwards) are chosen to undergo training at the Navy’s Top Gun program. There, the two encounter machismo-driven rivalry with fellow pilots such as Iceman (Val Kilmer). Maverick also becomes attracted with one of the civilian instructor (Kelly McGillis) and struggles to separate himself from his father’s legacy.

Directed by Shane Black, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a 2005 dark comedy that was completely overlooked in the US, barely grossing $4.2M at the US box office, despite mostly favorable critical acclaim.
