Write for Us

Want to write about movies and become part of a fast growing online movie destination? Tired of writing post on your personal blog that go unread? Anomalous Material is always looking for motivated and dedicated writers who will communicate their enthusiasm for films through their writing. At this point in time, these are volunteer positions but we can offer you your own bio page as well as exposure and distribution to our rapidly growing audience and community.

Important note: At this moment, we cannot afford to pay anyone so all positions are volunteer positions.

Requirements

Aside from a good command of the English language, the minimal requirements are a passion for films, an entertaining and/or humorous style of writing and a commitment of 6 months minimum. New writers will be subject to a 5-post test trial.

• The content you write will be edited for quality and consistency standards
• Many people simply ramble. You must know how to write!
• Location doesn’t matter but we could use writers from New York City, NY and Los Angeles, CA

Open Positions

Daily News Writers

This is going to be a position of emphasis for the site going forward. You want to make a name for yourself? This is the position for you. As a news writer, your primary responsibility will be to keep our readers current with the latest project, casting, trailers and other film news on a daily basis. You will spend time visiting the major movie news outlet (Deadline, THR, Variety etc…) for newsworthy items as well as scouring the press releases constantly sent to us. You will write at least 1 or 2 posts a day about the latest in film and Hollywood.

The ideal candidate will know better than regurgitate news items from another website. He/She will be able to add insightful context and commentary as well as write in an entertaining and slightly opinionated tone. Previous experience writing for a written or online publication is not required but a big plus and so is working knowledge of image editing. Emphasis will be put on an ability to deliver posts in a voice that is fresh, smart, sharp and engaging.

Feature Writers

As a feature writer, you will be expected to write original feature content for us. These includes top lists, interactive content, timely and relevant articles as well as interviews. The ideal candidate will have the ability to write entertaining yet insightful articles as well as have a clear vision of what our readers want to read. Previous experience writing for a written or online publication is not required but a big plus and so is working knowledge of image editing. Candidate must be able to commit to at least 1 post a week.
